Men. Put down your phones. Turn off the TV. Grab your Bible.
Did you know that it’s predicted that this year, an average American will consume 15.5 hours of media per day? Smart phones, tablets, television, radio, the Internet… there are so many avenues speaking into our lives.
Through these we learn what to eat, what to wear, what to look like, how to act, how to speak, you name it.
What’s worse, is that just because you think you have it figured out one minute, all of these questions and their answers can, and will, literally change within minutes. One minute the media is portraying manhood as soldiers rescuing refugees, the next it’s handing out awards to Caitlyn Jenner.
What men need, is a firm base that tells them WHO they are, and WHOSE they are. They need an unwavering, pure, infallible, place to rest their heads and seek truth. They need scripture to tell them how to act, how to speak, and how to love.
Let the Word of God shape you and mold you into the man God desires for you to be. Build your foundation on the rock of scripture, not the sand of the world.
Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong. Do everything in love. -1 Corinthians 16:13-142
Similarly, encourage the young men to be self-controlled. In everything set them an example by doing what is good. In your teaching show integrity, seriousness and soundness of speech that cannot be condemned, so that those who oppose you may be ashamed because they have nothing bad to say about us. -Titus 2:6-7
Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go. -Joshua 1:9
But you, man of God, flee from all this, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance and gentleness. Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your good confession in the presence of many witnesses. -1 Timothy 6:11-12
As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another. -Proverbs 27:17

The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not be want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside quiet waters, he restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for thou are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. -Psalm 23
For the husband is the head of the wife even as Christ is the head of the church, his body, and is himself its Savior. -Ephesians 5:23

Who is going to harm you if you are eager to do good? But even if you should suffer for what is right, you are blessed. “Do not fear their threats; do not be frightened.”But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect, keeping a clear conscience, so that those who speak maliciously against your good behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their slander. For it is better, if it is God’s will, to suffer for doing good than for doing evil. -1 Peter 3:13-17
The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe. -Proverbs 18:10
